Jasper High School senior Kayley Bivona seems naturally drawn to challenge. Whether in academics, athletics, or music, she has consistently demonstrated a willingness to pursue paths that require discipline, endurance, and precision.

From an early age, she loved science, and growing up with two practicing physicians as parents gave her a close view of the medical field.

“I’ve always really liked science,” she says. “I knew I wanted to go into the medical field because it’s such a big science field.”

Kayley will begin her first year at Auburn University in the fall of 2026, where she plans to study biomedical sciences before eventually attending medical school. Her long-term goal is to become a dermatologist and open a rural clinic in northern Alabama.

This school year also marks the final season of her high school cross country and track career. A distance runner, she competes in the 1600- and 800-meter events, and her cross country team finished as section champions last fall.

That same drive carries into music. Having taken piano lessons since age seven, Kayley became an accomplished pianist, but she was never content to stick to easy pieces. Instead, she skipped ahead to the difficult music and pushed herself to master it.

In many ways, that instinct defines her.

“I like being challenged,” Kayley says.

It is a simple statement, but one that helps explain the focus, discipline, and purpose behind the future she is already working to build. 78
