Healing Hands

I declare that I will live as a healer.I am sensitive to the needs of those around me.I will lift the fallen, restore the broken, and encourage the discouraged.I am full of compassion and kindness.I won’t just look for a miracle, I will become someone’s miracle by showing God’s love and mercy everywhere I go.This is my declaration. Amy Byars Sanders does not give this mantra for Drayer Physical Therapy mere lip-service. And it’s more than just words printed on slick business cards to make people feel all warm and fuzzy inside—she attempts to live it out every day.Amy grew up in Jasper. She is the daughter of Tom and Carol Byars, and is a 1998 Walker High School graduate. She attended Auburn University, where she received a degree in Exercise Science in 2001. She graduated PT school at UAB in 2003, and worked for a couple of sports medicine groups before joining Drayer PT.Drayer opened the doors to its Jasper clinic in November 2012, and offers the following physical therapy services: pediatrics, strokes, Parkinson’s, chronic back pain, sports/recreational injuries, post-op surgery, and neurosurgery.Amy says she enjoys working for Drayer because the company supports the community and cares for each individual patient.“Drayer is a Christian company,” says Sanders. “We support charities and an orphanage in Haiti. The proceeds from our t-shirt sales go to the Pregnancy Test and Resource center and the orphanage. The company is also good to work with people, regardless of pay or income.”Amy’s husband Jake is a real estate agent with Byars Realty in Jasper and is originally from Sylacauga. Amy and Jake have two sons, Colton, 5, and Sam, 1, who was adopted.Amy is glad to be working to serve the needs of people in her hometown. “I want to serve the people I grew up with,” says Amy. 78
