Siran Stacy to Chair St. Jude Event on May 7
Birmingham, AL - Siran Stacy knows that tragedy can come out of nowhere. On November 19, 2007, Stacy, a former Alabama and NFL football player, lost his wife and four children when a drunk driver ran through an intersection near Newton, Alabama. After recovering from the accident, Stacy began speaking at local churches, parlaying these opportunities into his own speaking ministry. Since that time, Stacy has addressed churches and gatherings literally all over the world. In May, Stacy will take a brief stop from his speaking tour to headline an event benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The second annual St. Jude Field of Dreams will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook. Over 300 people attended last year’s event, and $101,000 was raised for St. Jude.“I’m blessed to be the honorary chair, and I’m glad they considered me,” Stacy says. “I’m looking forward to meeting new people, and we are hoping for a substantial donation toward St. Jude, which is impacting the world for good through their organization.”St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened more than 50 years ago. This altruism is only possible with the help of selfless donors. “It costs 2 million dollars a day to keep the doors open at St. Jude,” says Leandra D. Cartagena, Bilingual Regional Development Representative II for the Southeast region. Grand Bohemian Hotel Manger Thomas Hoffman, Molly Fielding, Siran Stacy, Miranda and Todd VickersGuests of St. Jude Field of Dreams will enjoy delicious cuisine, cocktails, and entertainment by Razz Ma Tazz while raising money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® through silent and live auctions.“Thanks to generous donors who support events like St. Jude Field of Dreams, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.” Cartagena says. “Contributions give St. Jude the freedom to focus on what matters most: saving kids regardless of their financial situation.”Stacy’s message is one of hope. “These parents are going through tribulation, but guess what? I know what you’re going through,” Stacy says. “I’ve been there too. Don’t give up. Keep hope alive. There’s something unseen that’s coming. You can’t see it. You’ll have all of those different emotions that flood, but don’t give up. Something good is going to happen.”During the festivities, Stacy will take a few minutes to share his story and encourage the continued support of St. Jude. “It’s an opportunity to give my testimony and glorify my Savior, who is doing a mighty work through me,” Stacy says. 78For tickets and sponsorships, please contact Leandra D.
