Saturday, June 11Tallulah Bankhead Half Marathon, 5K, and Fun Run will begin at 7:00 AM in downtown Jasper. The races are a part of the Tallulah Bankhead Tribute Weekend, hosted by the Walker Area Community Foundation. The races will bring over 500 runners to the city of Jasper. If you are not signed up to run, you can still come out to watch and support the participants as they run the streets of downtown Jasper.Free Fishing Day, part of National Fishing and Boating week, begins at 8:00 AM and lasts until 6:00 PM. Alabamians will have the opportunity to fish for free, without a license, in most pubic waters, both fresh and salt waters.Saturday, June 18Path to the Foothills will be held in courthouse square of historic downtown Jasper at 7:00 PM. This will be the third of five shows in which local bands compete for a spot on the Foothills Festival stage. Saturday, July 2Sipsey Fest, hosted by Sipsey Fire Department, will begin at 9:00 AM with a car show, kid games, karaoke, door prizes, food vendors, and a fireworks show. Festivities will begin around 5:00 PM.Sunday, July 10Alabama Bass Trail Tournament Series, presented by Fox Sports, will be on Smith Lake at 7:30 AM. There will be a family-friendly movie shown in the outdoor amphitheater. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and chairs.Friday, July 29The 4th Annual EASI Charity Golf Tournament will be held at Horse Creek Golf Course. The tournament is $50 per golfer, which includes a hamburger lunch, golf cart, range balls, and an afternoon of golf. $100 will get each golfer all of the previous, plus mulligans for each side and an entry into a variety of contests. Arrive before 11:00 to enjoy all of the festivities. Guests are welcome to bring blankets and chairs.Thursday, August 16Tasting of the Arts hosted by Walker County Arts Alliance will be from 5:00-7:00 in the First Bank of Jasper building in downtown Jasper. The event combines art with food, by featuring the art work of one or two artists and serving food catered by a local restaurant. For more information visit artsofwalkercounty.org.Friday, September 9 and Saturday, September 10The Foothills Festival will last for two days in the downtown Jasper courthouse square. There will be food and shopping vendors, kids’ activities, and a concert headlining Tonic, Gin Blossoms, and Deana Carter.
