78 Magazine and Bevill State to Host Third Thursday Event

0y9a4387In 1938 Dr. Carl Jesse established Walker College. The two-year private college consisted of forty-five students, four faculty members, and one building in downtown Jasper.  In 1998, Bevill State Community College took over the education side, but to Walker County citizens, it remains the Walker College Campus. Today, the Walker College Campus of Bevill State retains about seven hundred students. 78 Magazine invites the community to join us on November 17 from 5:00-7:00 PM on campus at Warehouse 319 ½ as we celebrate the history, students, alumni, and faculty of Bevill State Community College. After four successful Third Thursdays at Elizabeth Garner Interiors, Bernard’s Store for Men, Carl Cannon Chevrolet, and Southern Orthopedic, Bevill State’s event will continue to provide a networking and social event for the Walker County community. Third Thursdays are casual and family friendly. Guests are welcome to come and go at their convenience.Bevill’s Director of Marketing Tana Collins says, “Bevill State is excited to host a 78 Magazine Third Thursday event on our Jasper campus. This is a wonderful opportunity to not only showcase the campus to the community, but to provide the student body with an entertainment and networking opportunity.”This segment of Third Thursday will feature a photography show of the work of local photographer and 78 Magazine owner Al Blanton. The photography will be available for show and for purchase.Guests will also have an opportunity to meet the new head men’s basketball coach Tommy Suitts. Bevill State announced in May the return of athletics to the five college campuses. Coach Suitts was hired in September, and the team will begin playing in Fall 2017. Third Thursday will be a great chance for the community to meet the new basketball coach.Third Thursday guests will be able to enjoy treats and refreshments provided by Warehouse 319 and live music from Andrew Brasfield. The students and faculty of Bevill State and the staff of 78 Magazine look forward to seeing everyone at Third Thursday on November 17! 78
