Soul of 78- Lisa Allen

“I began working at Synovus at just 18 years old. My mother’s best friend, Lavoune Minor, encouraged me to apply for a part-time teller position. At the time I was cleaning the houses a few times a week and attending Walker College full-time. I decided to apply and as they say, ‘The rest is history!’”

“My official title is Accounting Operations Manager. After I finished at the University of Alabama with an accounting degree, I was given the opportunity to turn my part-time teller position into an Accounting Clerk position. This was in August of 1993, and since then I have held various positions in the finance department.”

“After Finance was split into Strategic Finance and Accounting Operations, I started working with the operational side. Although I enjoyed working Strategic Finance tasks, I have always leaned more towards tracking down outages and working to get them corrected. In accounting, there never seems to be a typical day. There’s always a problem to solve.”

“I love working for Synovus and cannot imagine working anywhere else.  I work with great people, have wonderful benefits and have learned a lot over the years.  I still live in the house that I grew up in, 47 years at the same address, so that should tell you that I never want to live anywhere else.  Jasper is a great place to live and raise a family.  There are a lot of wonderful people that live in Walker County.  It’s not perfect, but where is?  Of course, when I graduated from Curry High School in 1989, I had plans to finish college and move away.  God had other plans for me, and I am so glad that he did!”
