“I always said I would never see the inside of a courtroom. This is the least likely thing anyone would have imagined me doing when I was in law school. When I first began practicing law, I handled domestic cases for about four years. Then, Bill Adair called me and offered me a job as an assistant district attorney. January will be four years that I’ve been working for the Walker County Court System. When I took this job, I kind of thought I was crazy, but now I love it.

On a daily basis, I screen all felony warrants for officers and I also handle bonds. If there’s a big case that requires investigation – like a murder – I do all of their search warrants. So, there’s never an evening or a weekend that I’m not on call.

The best part of all of this is definitely the people that I work with. We all see a lot of awful, terrible stuff, so being able to hang out, laugh, joke, and talk to each other is pretty great, because we all understand what everyone else is going through, in a way that no one else can. It makes the bad stuff more bearable.”
