78 Featured Athletes – Ivie Gibbons and Cameron DeJesus – Carbon Hill High School
This week’s 78 Featured Athletes come from Carbon Hill High School in Carbon Hill, Alabama! Meet Ivie Gibbons and Cameron DeJesus, two scholar athletes for the Bulldogs.
Let’s find out a little more about them:
Ivie Gibbons
“Excellence” is a word to describe senior Ivie Gibbons. With a 4.04 GPA, Ivie excels in the classroom and participates in many school activities. These include: Beta Club (secretary), National Honor Society, FBLA, FFA (president), Key Club (secretary), Peer Helpers, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
Ivie participates in two sports at CHHS, volleyball and indoor/outdoor track. She is coached by Ross Watters in volleyball and Watters and Garrett Kirkland in track.
The daughter of Don and Kandy Gibbons, Ivie plans to attend Wallace State Community College after graduation and pursue a degree in dental hygiene.
Cameron DeJesus
Carbon Hill junior Cameron DeJesus hopes to one day play college football. Fresh off of a gridiron season under first year head coach Mark Cochran, Cameron seamlessly made the transition to hardwood, where he will compete for championships under coach Garrett Kirkland. He plays wide receiver in football and shooting guard in basketball.
Cameron also performs well in the classroom. He says his favorite subject is history and his overall GPA is a 3.4.
Cameron’s aunt is Stacy Smothers and his uncle is Corey Smothers.
Please congratulate these to exceptional young people on their accomplishments, both in the classroom and in athletics! 78
