78 Featured Athletes – Rukia Chapel and Boone Martin – Dora High School
We’re in Bulldog Country this week to highlight two outstanding student athletes from Dora High School, Rukia Chapel and Boone Martin. These multisport scholars not only contribute to the positive culture at Dora, but they are on a trajectory for success beyond the halls of high school.
Let’s meet them:
Rukia Chapel
The daughter of Nakia Chapel and Betty Davidson, Rukia is currently a junior playing three sports: basketball, softball, and volleyball. She is coached by Justin Blevins in basketball, George Banks in softball, and Kimber Sanford in volleyball.
On the softball field, Rukia plays catcher and shortstop. On the volleyball team, she serves as the team’s libero. And on the basketball court, she plays shooting guard.
Rukia says her favorite subject is history, and with a 3.94 GPA, she demonstrates her commitment in the classroom. She is active in Beta Club and Upward Bound.
Her plans are to play softball or volleyball at the collegiate level while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Boone Martin
You might have noticed a 220-lb offensive lineman blocking folks all over the field for the Dora Bulldogs this season. Meet Boone Martin, who also plays catcher on the school’s baseball team and is a member of the wrestling team. He is coached by Chavis Williams in football, Jase Trotter in baseball, and Taylor Keeton in wrestling.
The son of April and Keith Martin, Boone says his favorite subject is history and carries a 3.6 GPA in the classroom.
After graduating next May, Boone says he plans on becoming a high school coach.
Please congratulate Rukia and Boone for being this week’s 78 Featured Athletes! 78
