78 Featured Athletes – Diamond Hightower and Luke Oliver – Jasper High School
This week we are back in Viking country to spotlight two exceptional young seniors at Jasper High School.
We are pleased to introduce Diamond Hightower and Luke Oliver.
Let’s find out a little more about them.
Diamond Hightower
Diamond currently serves as captain of the cheerleading team at Jasper High School, under the direction of Amber Wright.
The daughter of Tamica Webster, Diamond was recently accepted to the University of North Alabama (UNA), as well as The University of Alabama. “I am undecided on where I will attend, but plan to pursue a Bachelor’s of Nursing,” says Diamond. “I also plan to try out for the Universal Cheerleader Association (UCA) staff.”
Diamond has a 3.5 GPA and is involved in several community activities, including Miss Cotton State, Miss Alabama Preliminary Pageants, and other community service activities through cheerleading. She is set to graduate in May 2022.
Luke Oliver
Three-sport athlete Luke Oliver is good at numbers. Let’s take a look at a few of them:
50, 100, 200, 400: As part of the Jasper Swim Team under Coach Jason Lynn, Luke participates in the 50 free, 100 free, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay.
2, 3: Luke also plays on the Jasper High Tennis team under head coach Christian Matthews. He is the #2 doubles player and the #3 singles player.
1: This fall and winter, Luke is hitting the hardwood for the Jasper Viking basketball team, coached by Robert Epps. If you attend a game, you’ll see Luke manning the “1” position, otherwise known as the point guard.
4:17: Luke’s GPA in the classroom.
All of these numbers add up to make Luke’s parents, Shay and Katie Oliver, proud.
Lastly, Luke says he will attend Auburn after graduating in May 2002. He has plans to become a CPA.
Please congratulate these two student athletes for being our 78 Magazine Featured Athletes! 78
