ADECA Announces Justice Assistance Grant for the City of Dora

The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) today released a $23,973.21 grant for the City of Dora through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Program. This grant project is for the Dora Police Department to purchase new computers, printers, body cameras, spike strips, training guns, sim rounds, and ballistic helmets for the department with the funds. 

Senator Greg Reed (R-Jasper) and Dora Mayor Randy Stephens released the following statements on this grant: 

“I am pleased to see this funding awarded to the city of Dora. Those who serve in law enforcement are valued members of our community, and the work that they do every day to keep us safe is greatly appreciated,” Senator Reed said. “It is important that, in return, we provide them with all of the resources they need to safely and effectively carry out their jobs. This grant will play an important role in providing those critical resources to our law enforcement, and I will continue to make the support of law enforcement a high area of focus for me in the Senate.” 

“In today’s society, police officers are facing increasingly dangerous situations. Due to limited finances, smaller cities often struggle to provide their police departments with the equipment they need to protect themselves and the community,” said Mayor Stephens. “This grant will allow us to purchase new equipment as well as upgrade older equipment. We appreciate ADECA for providing this important support to our law enforcement.”
