As we travel across the county and city featuring local student-athletes, we arrive at Jasper High School for the week of June 14. This week’s students, Sophia Poolos and Moises Sanchez, excel in both the classroom and in athletics. Here’s a little bit about these exceptional people:

Sophia Poolos

Sophia is a rising senior at Jasper High School carrying a 4.48 grade point average. Her favorite subject in school is math and she is set to graduate in May 2022.

Sophia participates in both tennis and swim at Jasper and is coached by Christian Matthews (tennis) and Jason Lynn and Katie Oliver (swim).

Her school activities included Key Club, ambassadors, student council, Beta Club, and Mu Alpha Theta.

Sophia is the daughter of Ed and Brooke Poolos.

After graduation, she will pursue a career in the health field and has plans to become an optometrist.

Moises Sanchez

Moises Sanchez is a three-sport athlete at Jasper High School, participating in cross-county, wrestling, and soccer. His favorite subject is English, and he has a 3.0 grade point average.

His coaches include Caroline Kamplain (cross-country), Trippman Otis (wrestling) and Cody Brown (soccer).

Moises’ father is Juan Sanchez and his mother is Orfa Mondragan.

After graduation in May 2022, he plans to pursue a career in real estate.

Please congratulate both of these student-athletes for their success! 78
