78 Featured Athletes – Carly Woods and Ryan Shepherd, Jr.– Oakman High School

This week, we venture into Wildcat country to meet two outstanding Oakman High student athletes, Carly Woods and Ryan Shepherd, Jr., our 78 Featured Athletes for the Week of August 18th! 

Carly Woods 

A senior at Oakman High, Carly is a forward in basketball under head coach Derek Roberts, and also plays second and third bases under head coach Paten Williams. She maintains a 4.0 G.PA, is the secretary of SGA, and is involved in Beta Club, Spanish Club, EHK Club, FBLA, FCCLA, and Science Club. 

Carly says her favorite subject is math, and after graduation in 2022, she plans to go to college to pursue a degree and become a physical therapist. She is the daughter of Amy and Steven Woods. 

Ryan Shepherd, Jr.

Playing cornerback and running back under Wildcats head coach Ryan Hall demands tremendous amounts of speed, agility, and strength, but this Oakman senior is up to the challenge. Ryan’s favorite subject is math. He has a 3.42 GPA and is active in SGA, FFA, and FCCLA. After he graduates in May 2022, he plans to attend Bevill State Community College and pursue a career in welding and engineering. Ryan is the son of Ryan Shepherd and Cris Tucker.
