78 Featured Athletes – Lydia Johnson and Solomon Wood-Sumiton Christian

Say hello to Lydia Johnson and Solomon Wood, our 78 Featured Athletes from Sumiton Christian High School! These two talented scholar-athletes are doing great things at SCS, both in the classroom and in athletics.

Let’s learn a little more about them:

Lydia Johnson

SCS junior Lydia Johnson plays volleyball for the Eagles and carries a 3.5 G.P.A. in the classroom. She says her favorite subject is chemistry, and her future plans are to “attend college and play volleyball, and pursue a degree in sports medicine.”

Lydia is also involved in many school activities, including the praise team and Eagle Ambassador. She made the Daily Mountain Eagle’s Eagle Elite First Team and plays volleyball for Netforce Volleyball Academy.

The daughter of Rush Johnson and Julie Phillips, Lydia is coached at SCS by Kara Cashatt and assistant coach Murray Bondman.

Solomon Wood

After graduating high school in May 2022, Solomon Wood says he has plans to go into the ministry. This year, he will wrap up a stellar high school career.

He played multiple positions for SCS head football coach David Powell, including outside linebacker, defensive end, wingback, and safety.

Solomon is involved in the Beta Club and says his favorite subject is chemistry. He is the son of Greg and Kris Wood.

Please congratulate both Lydia and Solomon for being our 78 Featured Athletes for this week!
