Vikes Set for 2nd Annual Tailgate and Spring Game on May 20

The Jasper Viking football team is gearing up for its second annual Tailgate and Shrimp Boil on Friday, May 20. The event is held in conjunction with the Spring game against the Minor Tigers and is open to the community.

“We had an outstanding turnout last year and we want this to be an annual event on our football calendar,” says Viking head coach Philip Bailey. “We greatly appreciate the support we receive from our community and look forward to another tremendous event this year.”

Festivities kick off at 4 p.m. when the tailgate officially begins, followed by the Viking Walk at 5:30 and game kickoff at 6 p.m.

Tailgaters are welcome to set up on the team’s practice field beginning at noon on the day of the event. Food and tailgate packages are available as follows: Tailgate spot and 4 shrimp plates - $150; tailgate and 2 shrimp plates - $100; tailgate spot only - $60 per space; shrimp plate only - $25 per plate.

“This is a really cool event for a high school football team, and it’s only possible with the support of the people of this community,” said Viking PR Director Al Blanton. “The tailgate is a great way to advertise your business or organization, and for parents to support their favorite Viking player. We’ll have lots of food, fun, and entertainment, so we hope you’ll join us on Friday, May 20.”
