78 Featured Athletes – Linley Tubbs and Dakota Kiker – Curry High School

BJ Baker serves as the Athletic Director at Curry High School, and he will be the first to tell you that the school is blessed with great kids who excel in the classroom and in athletics. Two outstanding examples are seniors Linley Tubbs and Dakota Kiker. Both are multisport athletes with a high G.P.A. in the classroom.

Let’s find out a little more about them:

Linley Tubbs

Soon, Linley Tubbs will be leaving Walker County to attend Jacksonville State University on a softball scholarship. She says she wants to pursue a degree in psychology and become a child psychologist.

On May 27, she will conclude a stellar high school career at Curry and move on to the next level of life. She’s made her teachers and coaches very proud over the last few years. Playing shortstop and third base for the Lady Yellowjacket softball team, Linley is coached by Saige Beaty. And, serving as middle for the volleyball team, Linley is coached by Dave Lawson.

She is involved in Beta Club, SGA, and FCCLA, and says her favorite subject is math.

Linley is the daughter of Jennifer and Jon Tubbs.

Dakota Kiker

There are times when Dakota Kiker is in a hurry, and times when he isn’t. For instance, when asked what his future plans are, Dakota says, “attend Bevill (State) for the basics and decide from there my next course of study.” Perhaps his patience will one day pay off.

But there are times where he must speed things up, like when he’s sprinting around the track, competing in the 100- or 200-meter dash for the Curry track team and coach William Baker.

In addition to participating in track, Dakota plays football for coach DJ Emerson and basketball for coach Jason Johnsey.

He has a 3.75 GPA and says his favorite subject is science. He’s also involved in school activities like the National Honor Society, FBLA, and FCCLA.

Dakota is the son of Jerry Kiker and Karen Kiker.

Please congratulate Linley and Dakota for being our 78 Featured Athletes of the Week! 78
