Building a Better Tomorrow: Vivian ONeal and Financial Literacy

Words by Anna Vaughn | Image by Justin Hunter

Achieving financial freedom is an integral part of creating a stable life for today and for future generations, and Vivian O’Neal of Financial Literacy is committed to teaching Jasper and the surrounding communities about proper money management.

Financial Literacy, a local nonprofit organization in the financial industry, has set out to help people create a financial life that later generations can benefit from. Created by the financial professionals of World System Builder, the organization is making financial education accessible to everyday people.

Working alongside Lloyd Chatman, JT Chatman, and Francis Chatman Mallard, Vivian and her family offer online and in-person courses to the community.

“It’s ironic that we live in one of the wealthiest countries in the world, but still have money problems,” says Vivian. “Debt has become a way of life. That’s why personal financial literacy is so important.”

Vivian teaches in-person classes at the Jasper Civic Center and works with schools, churches, and camps to provide financial education to all ages. Course content ranges from saving money to protecting money and estate, covering everything in the financial industry.

“We can change people’s lives by changing the way they think,” says Vivian. “If we can change the way people treat their money, we can help them create a financially stable future.” 78
