Get to Know: Dawson Salors

As a boy, Dawson Salors became deeply rooted in the Jasper community, going to school, playing sports, and occasionally getting into a little mischief, as all boys do. Today, Dawson spends his time raising his own family and giving back to the community that raised him.

“I was born and raised in Jasper. I grew up in a very large, close-knit family,” says Dawson Salors. “Having a big family, you get to meet a lot of people, and everybody knows you.”

Dawson was always engaged in one sport or another, playing baseball, basketball, and football for both Walker and Cordova High School. After graduating from Cordova, he continued his education on a baseball scholarship to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama.

“I didn't really like the school part of it,” Dawson says, laughing. “But that was the first time I ever really had to live on my own. It was a good learning experience.”

After college, Dawson went straight into manual labor, working at Miller Steam Plant in Quinton, Alabama. He also worked for Jasper Lumber and Norris Plumbing for a short time.

In 2021, Dawson began working for Kemper Life as a sales associate, selling insurance policies for home and life, accident, and fire and contents. In 2022, he was promoted to Sales Manager.

Dawson enjoys the personable aspect of his job, going door to door, making phone calls, and meeting new people.

“I love my job, so it's not really considered work to me. I’ve always considered myself a leader, so even though it’s been different, it’s been a life-changing experience,” says Dawson.

Outside of work, Dawson describes himself as a basic country guy who enjoys hunting, fishing, and hanging out with friends.

His biggest motivation is his wife and daughter. “They keep me going and keep me motivated to provide for them,” says Dawson. 78
