Kenny Harris is the third generation of Harrises to work at Delta Transfer Lines.

A family-owned company that serves the lower 48 states, Delta Transfer offers local and long-distance moves, office relocations, expert packing, and climate-controlled storage and mini-storage.

The business was founded in 1948 by Kenny’s grandfather, Floyd Harris. Floyd later convinced Kenny’s father, Ronald Harris, to come on board in the 1960s. A couple of decades later, in 1980, Kenny’s father and mother purchased the company. Two decades later, Kenny purchased Delta Transfer from his father and mother. Now he is co-owner of the business with his wife, Ashley.

Kenny and Ashley have been married for 30 years. The two met back in junior high school.

“She used to write me letters back when I was in ninth grade, and she was in seventh, but then we quit talking,” Kenny recalls. “Then I did not see her until I was out of college, and she was in college as a cheerleader at Walker College. I first saw her again when a friend and I were riding around, and I hollered at her as she walked across the parking lot.”

Kenny and Ashley arranged a date for that Friday night, and were married on May 16, 1992.

They have three children: Andrew (29), Joseph (28), and Anna Claire (24).

Three months ago, Kenny became the proud grandfather to Rhett, the newborn son of Andrew and his wife, Kayla.

As for the destiny of his business, Kenny has peace with it.

“Hopefully, my son (Andrew) takes it over and becomes the fourth generation,” Kenny said. “God has absolutely blessed our family.” 78
