Why I Went into Real Estate

Why did I go into real estate? Well, Sandra made me do it.

Real estate was not my career choice. I graduated from Walker County High School when I was 16 years old, then I went on to Walker College and the University of Alabama with a BS, MA, EdS, and post-graduate studies in English.

I started teaching at the age of 19 in 1962 and had a 28-year career at Dora High School, Tuscaloosa City High, and Walker High. In the meantime, I became a licensed travel agent, which has enabled me to take many groups all around the world. It is something I still enjoy doing.

In 1996, Sandra Lee decided we should become real estate agents. She and I were first cousins and were “partners in crime.” Sandra was a brilliant, intelligent lady and when she had her mind set on something, she made it happen. So, I learned real estate. We both got our licenses in 1997 and in 1999, Charlotte Sherer, Fara Lawson, Sandra and I (all 4 of us) opened All Four Real Estate.

Why I love real estate, though, is dealing with the people. I have a passion for this business. When I was in Paris, France, I sold a lake house and have even sold while being a patient in the hospital. Cell phones make it all possible.

I also love it because I was able to help build this business with someone who was not only family, but my best friend.

Sandra Humphries Lee passed away in 2020 and left a legacy of helping and influencing others. I am blessed to have been one of those who were influenced.

Miss you, my friend. 78
