30 Under 30: Savannah Brown
Oakman High School
Since she was a child, Savannah Brown has been riveted by the world of medicine.
“I used to play surgery games, or watch the doctors stitch me up when I got hurt,” says Savannah. “I’ve always been fascinated by it.”
Her parents, both educators, pushed to perform academically and shared scripture with her that became her life motto: “Everyone to whom much is given, of him much will be required.” Luke 12:48 (ESV).
Growing up, Savannah was involved in softball, playing for both school and travel teams. She is currently a senior at Oakman High School and serves as student body president. She takes dual enrollment courses and will start nursing school at Bevill State Community College this fall.
After becoming an RN, Savannah hopes to shadow a labor and delivery unit and attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to become a nurse practitioner.
The girl who once played surgery games is now on track to make her childhood dream a reality.
“I’ve always known I wanted to do this,” says Savannah. “It’s my goal to be happy and upbeat, and to encourage others.” 78
