In 2008, life was breathed into Kelli Wilson’s first solo business venture: Alabama Outdoor Power Equipment. As the sole owner, Kelli has been providing Jasper, surrounding counties, and even surrounding states with top-of-the-line outdoor equipment for the past 15 years.

A native of Curry, Kelli graduated from high school and went straight to work for her family’s business.

“I didn't attend any universities or anything like that. I just worked, you know, and tried my best to serve my customers,” recalls Kelli.

After many years, she decided it was time for a fresh start and ventured into the business world on her own. Now, she owns one of the largest Husqvarna dealerships in north Alabama.

Alabama Outdoor Power Equipment’s 7500-square-foot facility boasts large service and parts departments, and offers Better Built utility trailers, tractors, residential and commercial zero-turn mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, arborist equipment, as well as lawn and garden care. You name it, Alabama Outdoor likely has it!

Over the years the business has grown and thrived, especially during the pandemic. “Everybody was at home and locked up, and one of the main things people could do was either home improvement or lawn improvement,” says Kelli. “We’ve been able to grow and sustain over the years, even when the economy wasn’t the best.”

Through Husqvarna, Kelli offers discounts to veterans, first responders, schools, municipalities, nonprofits, and churches. She also works with customers to provide solid financing rates and help them achieve better credit scores, which she says is one of the business’s strong points.

Kelli says she is grateful to have a long list of repeat customers, many of whom drive long distances to do business with her.

“We try to treat all of our customers like we would want to be treated. We take the time to listen to their needs, and help guide them to the best purchase,” says Kelli. “I love meeting new people and making friendships with them. A lot of our customers are like family to us.”

As Kelli continues to serve customers with top-of-the-line outdoor equipment and a friendly smile, Alabama Outdoor Power Equipment stands as evidence of the power of hard work, dedication, and strong relationships that are built along the way. 78
