78 Magazine to Host Creators Camp
Could the next Truman Capote or Annie Leibovitz be sitting in your classroom? Could you be the parent of the next Andy Warhol? Blanton Media Group and 78 Magazine happily announces our one-of-a-kind Creators Camp. The camp is for students between the ages of 10 and 18 who are interested in expanding his or her creative abilities and talents in writing, art, and photography. The camp will be held at Walker High School on August 27, 2016 from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM.Camp will include six break-out sessions. Each session will give the campers exposure to several disciplines: storytelling, painting, writing, photography, reading, and poetry.Local artists, writers, and photographers will be on hand to teach campers the basics of each field. “We want to introduce kids to different areas of art,” says Al Blanton, owner of Blanton Media Gorup. “But we aren’t going to crank out professionals in one day. The goal of the camp to inspire kids to pursue different avenues of art.” Instructors include artist Heidi Batson, reading teacher Mandy Chesser, storyteller Billie Seales, photographers Blakeney Cox and Mallory McLemore, and writer Al Blanton.To register for Creators Camp, please visit www.78mag.com/register. Registration the day of the camp will be $75.
