First Baptist Church Carbon Hill To Host Mens’ Conference
Carbon Hill, AL – This is the day the Lord hath made! Join us for a day of worship, fellowship, and hot ham and cheese sandwiches from the Pizza Bar!First Baptist Church of Carbon Hill will host the 2016 West Alabama Men’s Bible Conference on Saturday, August 13 at 9:00 AM. The event will feature four guest speakers throughout the day, with intermissions for lunch and worship.Scott McCullar will be the opening speaker. McCullar has been the pastor of the host church, First Baptist of Carbon Hill, for ten years. Additionally, he preaches at revivals across the southeast, and writes a religion column for the Daily Mountain Eagle. McCullar is excited about the event and stated, "I pray for men to be the Godly sons, husbands, fathers, servants, disciples and examples that God wants us to be as we follow Him. I pray this daily in my own life. But like many men, I often fall short. God put it on my heart to have a conference for the men of Carbon Hill, Walker County, and surrounding areas so we could focus on men returning to following after God's own heart. I pray that men from all over West Alabama will be refreshed, challenges, encouraged, and exhorted to surrender their lives willingly to Jesus so we can see revival in our homes, churches, and land."Following McCullar will be Clay Dyer, a professional fisherman born without any limbs except for a partial right arm. His motto is “If I can, you can” and he has never let anything get in the way of living his life for the glory of God. He is currently fishing on the FLW Tour. Clay’s story has been featured on ESPN, several news and outdoor channels, and in magazines such as Bassmaster. The third speaker is Walker County native who needs no introduction: TJ Armstrong. Armstrong is a police officer, a chaplain at Ridgeview and Ridgewood Health Services, a radio host, and a pastor. TJ planted New Generation Ministries in Jasper and the church recently combined with Parrish Church of God of Prophecy where Armstrong currently pastors.Brodie Croyle, Executive Director of the Big Oak Ranch, will be the closing speaker. Croyle played quarterback for the University of Alabama from 2002-2005, and went on to play for the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. At The Big Oak Ranch, Croyle works to give children needing a second chance a Christian home.Worship will be led by Shannon Knight of Lakewood Baptist Church in Northport, AL. Knight has been singing professionally for almost 20 years. He has made appearances on Gaither Homecoming Tours and TBN’s Unfolding Majesty. The conference will include times for a book signing with Clay Dyer, a meet-and-greet with Brodie Croyle, and lunch provided by The Pizza Bar.
