Cordova First Baptist Readies for Lottie Moon Christmas Auction on December 5

Christmas is a time for giving, and one local church is providing a great opportunity to support local and international missions. On December 5, Cordova First Baptist Church will be hosting the Lottie Moon Christmas Auction in memory of Charlotte Digges “Lottie” Moon, who dedicated her life to Baptist missionary work in China.

Senior Pastor Robert Blankenship says that Cordova First Baptist Church is a “very mission-minded church” and is happy to have the event reinstated in 2021. Last year, the event was planned but canceled due to Covid-19.

Every December, Southern Baptist Churches around the globe give to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, but the coordinator of the local event, Randy Barnes, says the church has decided to take a little different approach, offering an opportunity to bid on donated items through silent and open auctions.

“It’s just a great time,” Barnes says. “We choose to have a little fun with it, and people have kept coming back.”

Items range from baked goods to vacation packages and 100% of the proceeds go toward the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Food will be served, and the silent auction will begin at 4:45 p.m. The open live auction will start at 6:00 p.m.

So, join in on the fun and be sure to bring your family – and your pocketbook – to celebrate the season of giving. 78
