Capstone Rural Health Center recently opened its sixth clinic, Capstone – West Jasper, in April 2021. The clinic is located inside the Jasper Area Family Services Center (JAFSC) building and provides the community of West Jasper with access to primary and behavioral health care.

“This site was chosen because the Jasper Area Family Services Center provides a community-based facility for families to access services, as well as being centrally located, making it easily accessible to the community regardless of access to transportation,” says Dr. David Jones, Executive Director of Capstone Rural Health.

Dr. Jones explains that the clinic’s mission is to provide families with access to high-quality medical care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay. Due to the clinic’s central location, more families will now have access to immunizations, well-child visits, and sports physicals. The clinic will also provide pharmacy services in the months ahead.

“It just seemed like a great fit for the community…I think it brings a great resource on the health side that we really have not had as a center,” adds Donna Kilgore, Executive Director of JAFSC.

Through the combined efforts of JAFSC and Capstone Rural Health, along with the support of the Walker Area Community Foundation (WACF), West Jasper residents now have access to an abundance of family support programs and healthcare services that are all centrally located in one building.

Capstone Rural Health Center, a local non-profit, is a Federally Qualified Health Center serving Walker and Winston Counties and is funded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Jasper Area Family Services Center is a non-profit organization offering diverse programs and resources to individuals and families in Walker County. Among these programs are nationally recognized organizations such as the Fatherhood Initiative and First Teachers HIPPY. For more information, please visit www.jafsc.org
