Senator Greg Reed Appoints James Aaron to Alabama Small Business Commission

Senate President Pro Tem Greg Reed (R-Jasper) today announced that he has appointed longtime Walker County small businessman James Aaron to the statewide Alabama Small Business Commission (ASBC).

Aaron and his family own a small business in Jasper called A&A Machine & Welding. The family-owned company has over 20 employees and has been in business over 50 years. A&A also has a location in Cordova.

“I am pleased to appoint James Aaron to the Alabama Small Business Commission,” Reed said. “Mr. Aaron is a well-respected, hardworking small business leader in Walker County, and I know he will be a strong, commonsense voice for family-owned and small businesses throughout Senate District 5 and across our great state. I am proud to support the important mission of the Small Business Commission and will always fight to grow good-paying Alabama jobs. Small businesses are the cornerstone of communities in every corner of Alabama, and the Senate will continue to be their champion.”

“I am grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve on the Alabama Small Business Commission as Senate President Pro Tempore’s appointment,” said James Aaron with A & A Machine & Welding.  “I look forward to being an advocate and voice for businesses across Alabama and Walker County.  Small businesses are the backbone of this great state, and I am up for the challenge to continue the hard work with the Small Business Commission.”

The ASBC consists of 30 appointed members representing businesses with 50 or fewer employees and serve two-year terms; members can be re-appointed for a second term. The commission meets quarterly in order to formulate policies, encourage innovation, and discuss issues critical to the economic growth of small/independent businesses and their interests in the state of Alabama. The ASBC advises governmental entities and officials on how to support small businesses in every corner of Alabama.

Representatives of the commission serve on a voluntary basis and do not receive any operational funding. All of the ASBC services are provided at no cost to businesses and taxpayers.

Alabama Senate District 5 covers all or parts of Walker, Winston, Fayette, Tuscaloosa, and Jefferson counties.
