Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has awarded $20,000 to establish a building operator certification program at Bevill State Community College in Jasper.

Every year around 700,000 children in the United States face some form of abuse. Since 1983, the month of April has been nationally recognized as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month. This year, one local non-profit has plans to help bring awareness to this issue that involves the help of the entire community—and a color.

Bevill State Community College has been awarded a Community Service Grant from Senator Greg Reed. Funds from this grant are being utilized to install a new sound system, purchase new sound equipment, and install acoustic tiles in the auditorium of the David J. Rowland.

“I am pleased to see that the town of Oakman has been awarded a $180,000 Rebuild Alabama grant to resurface a portion of Market Street through Oakman,” said District 14 State Representative Tim Wadsworth. “Your tax dollars are being returned to Walker County to help our rural towns. “
